The insulating profile from 100 % recycled polyamide has successfully established itself and proved itself superbly in practice. Both in processing by system manufacturers and metalworkers and with use in numerous "green" buildings. Millions of running metres have been installed, saving several thousand tons of CO2 emissions so far. insulbar RE saves energy and valuable resources even during the manufacturing stage. Compared to conventional polyamide bars, the consumption of fossil fuels is reduced by 89 %, carbon emissions are cut by 84 % and water consumption by 32 %.

Since 2nd August 2017 it’s been all about reserves! This day is known as "Earth Overshoot Day" – the day when humanity lives off Earth’s reserves for the rest of the year, because the natural resources we have consumed exceed Earth’s capacity to regenerate those resources that year. We would need 1.7 Earths to support our current consumption of resources (source: www.overshootday.org2017).

Cradle to Cradle in Gold

High time to reverse this trend. In the construction industry, for example, buildings in Germany account for around 35 % of final energy consumption and about 30 % of CO2 emissions (source: German Federal Environment Agency 2016). Ensinger has long since recognised the signs of the times and as early as 2013 was the first manufacturer to launch a recycled insulating profile with an outstanding ecological balance sheet: insulbar RE, now awarded a Cradle to Cradle Material Health Certification in Gold.

The Cradle to Cradle concept – consumption: yes. waste: no.

The certification is based on consideration of the entire value-added chain from raw material through to the destination of the product. Materials used should be retained in the materials cycle and keep being reused – following nature’s example. During an audit, all the materials used in the product and their chemical components are scientifically assessed down to the last detail. The use of certified products gives additional points in the building certification and is the basis for Cradle to Cradle certifications of systems.
